Ras Al Khaimah is the northernmost of the UAE’s seven emirates and in terms of population the fourth largest in the UAE. Blessed with abundant natural beauty as well as resources, the emirate is on one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes. Its location, together with the stunning landscape and pristine beaches, has made Ras Al Khaimah an attractive tourist destination. The city of Ras Al Khaimah is divided into two parts by a water gill named ‘Khour Ras Al Khaimah.’ The western part is known as the Old Ras Al Khaimah and the eastern part as Al Nakheel. The two parts are connected by a large road bridge. Ras Al Khaimah has contributed significantly to the formation of the United Arab Emirates. The emirate has witnessed massive developments in recent years and is now a modern township with international schools, hospitals and amenities. However, its distinctive local culture sets it apart among other cities in the UAE. Recently, Ras Al Khaimah began an ambitious phase of development including investments in infrastructure improvement, tourism, shopping, and efforts to attract industrial and commercial enterprises through dedicated investment zones. |
